Ultimate French toast with maple syrup

I love a proper weekend breakfast. And is there a better way to start your day than with thick slices of corn bread soaked in maple syrup and covered in cinnamon & sugar? I really had to control myself to not start eating already when I took the pictures. It’s a quite simple recipe but hopefully it will inspire you to spoil yourself with a good breakfast every once in a while (or everyday if you’d like).

Serves 1 / 3 min preparation / 7 min of baking and serving / in total 10 minutes


What you need

Piece of butter
2 think slices of (corn)bread
1 egg
Splash of milk (whatever milk you prefer)
4 tablespoons of Sugar
1 teaspoon of Cinnamon
Maple Syrup


How it works

1. Heat some butter in a frying pan;
2. Break an egg in a bowl and whisk with a splash of milk (about 4 tablespoons);
3. Soak the bread in the egg mixture and bake in the pan for about 3 minutes on each side till they’re golden brown;
4. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle on the bread;
5. Serve with the maple syrup
